Injection Technique
1. Locate the site: Place your palm on the greater trochanter (the bony prominence on the side of the hip) 2. Point your index finger toward the anterior superior iliac spine 3. Spread your middle finger to form a V 4. The injection site is in the center of the V 5. Clean the area with alcohol 6. Insert the needle at a 90-degree angle 7. Aspirate to check for blood 8. Inject slowly and steadily 9. Withdraw and apply pressure
Rotation Schedule
Can be used frequently. Rotate between left and right VG sites. Allow 3-4 days between injections in the same site.
Common Mistakes
Injecting too far forward (hitting hip bone) or too far back (missing the muscle). Not spreading fingers wide enough to properly locate the site.
⚠️ Nerve & Safety Warnings
Very safe site with minimal nerve risk when properly located. The sciatic nerve is far from this location.
